James L. Johnson

James Leo Johnson, 64, Grand Rapids, Minn., died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.
A native of Crawford County, born April 17, 1939, he was the son of the late James and Ruby Seaton Johnson.
He was an Air Force veteran and served in Japan and at the air base in Grand Rapids.
He retired in 1999 from Grand Rapids Public Utilities, where he worked 31 years, and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars in Grand Rapids and Minnesota Deer Hunter’s Association, and was a lifetime member of Itasca Archery Club.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, the former Judy E. Neuman; a son, Randall James Johnson of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Pamela Beggs of Dayton, Minn., and Paula Cleveland of Coleraine, Minn.; three brothers, Eddie D. Johnson of NewAlbany, and Russell Jr. and Jerry J. Johnson, both of English; three sisters, Virginia E. Hublar and Mary Lou Summers, both of Elizabeth, and Linda K. Zahn, of New Albany, and six grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, April 5, at Zion Evangelical Church with burial in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Officiant: The Rev. Lynn Ronsberg.
