Sgt. Dale R. Traughber

Sgt. Dale R. Traughber, 46, New Albany, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at his home.
He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on July 6, 1980, and was assigned to the Sellersburg Post of the Indiana State Police as a trooper, where he worked Clark and Floyd counties for several years. He also served as a detective, a member of the marijuana eradication team, critical incident team, tactical intervention team, emergency response team, aircraft accident investigation team, and a field training officer at the Sellersburg Post.
During the Gulf War, Traughber served as the acting assistant district commander for the Sellersburg Post. He was a member of Floyd County Police Merit Board, Indiana State Police Alliance and Pioneers of the Indiana State Police, and attended Northside Christian Church. He served with the ISP for more than 23 years.
He was a graduate of New Albany High School and a former employee of Prudential Heating and Air Conditioning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Traughber.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lori L. Hardy; three daughters, Airman 1st Class Tiffany Traughber, stationed at Wright Patterson AFB, and Mallory and Kelsey Traughber, both at home; his mother, Norma Traughber of Clarksville; two brothers, Ken Traughber of Floyds Knobs and Rick Traughber of New Albany, and a sister, Debbie Goodyear of Floyds Knobs.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Northside Christian Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, March 24, at noon at the church with burial in SCI Graceland Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana and American Cancer Society.
