Frank R. Thompson, 85, Floyds Knobs, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 10, 2004, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.
A native of Marion County, Ky., born Oct. 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Richard and Anna Mary Ryan Thompson.
He worked for Illinois Central Railroad for 40 years, and was a member of United Transportation Union, Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63-1/2 years, the former Geraldine (Jerry) Wessel; four sons, Ronald N., Garry (Bub) and Terry Joe Thompson, all of Floyds Knobs, and Edward Patrick Thompson of New Albany; four daughters, Joyce M. Muscatello and Marilyn H. Griffin, both of Floyds Knobs, and Therese M. Winstead and Jane Kathleen Sperzel, both of Georgetown; two brothers, Charles and James Thompson; five sisters, Marcella Heredia, Patricia Smith, Margaret Johnson, Mary M. Kamer and Betty Sue Yochum; 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass: Saturday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements: Generations Funeral Home in New Albany.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Mount St. Francis Friary and Retreat Center or Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
