Eugene P. Summers

Eugene P. Summers, 86, Elizabeth, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
A native of Evans Landing, born Feb. 26, 1917, he was the son of the late Osco and Eula Perry Summers.
He was a retired motor repairman for Ford Motor Co. in Louisville, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of UAW Local 862 in Louisville and the Presbyterian church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola M. Summers, and a great-grandson.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Summers of Elizabeth; a daughter, Sandra Gardner of Liberty, Mo.; a brother, Kenneth Summers of Elizabeth; two sisters, Eunice McRae of Elizabeth and Ruth Utz of New Albany; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 7, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
Officiant: The Rev. Richard Goodwin.
Pallbearers: Scott and Brian Gardner, Lori and Emily Plummer, and Derek and Andrea Summers.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Harrison County Hospital Building Fund or to Hospice of Southern Indiana.
