Panthers grapple at Mooresville

Chris Paulley was the only individual champion for Corydon Central’s wrestling team at a recent meet at Mooresville.
Paully, wrestling at 135, defeated Jared Tripbett of Crawfordsville, 10-4. Finishing in third place on the day was Jason Ward, who beat Ryan Lybarter of Monrovia in a consolation match.
Tyler Williams was defeated in overtime, 4-2, by Derek Mullins of Seymour for fourth place.
Dustin Graham finished sixth via injury default against Aaron Edwards of Beech Grove.
Zac Robson was fifth overall and defeated Jordan Moffitt of Plainfield and David Terhune was beaten by Sterling Jackson of Plainfield for eighth place.
‘It was pretty tough, good competition,’ Panthers coach Richard Clipp said. ‘We weren’t as sharp and intense as we wanted to be, but we’ve also had the flu bug hitting everyone, too.’
Corydon hosts the Old Capitol Classic this Saturday. The action begins at 9 a.m.
Several state-ranked wrestlers will be on hand for the eight-team round-robin. Columbus North is the defending champion.
