Arthur L. Taylor

Arthur L. Taylor, 78, Columbus, formerly of New Middletown, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at 4:40 p.m., at his home.
A native of Central, born June 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Ben and Lavennia Coffman Taylor.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and a master’s degree from Indiana University. In 1990, he retired as an educator after 41 years, having been employed as a teacher and school administrator at Columbus North High School, and an assistant principal for 22 years. He also taught school in Salem for three years and Lanesville for three years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Columbus, and a member and past president of the Evening Kiwanis Club and Columbus Educators Association.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Ruth Cooper, Sophia Wolfe, Clarice Eisenmenger and Helen Robertson.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Norma L. Pendleton, and a son, Scott Taylor of Indianapolis.
Visitation: Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Service in Columbus.
Funeral: Thursday, Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church.
Officiant: The Rev. Joe Kamman.
A private burial will be Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Bartholomew County or to his church’s memorial fund.
