Man dies when car hits cow on interstate

A Texas man died last week after the car he was driving struck a cow at night on Interstate 64 near the Corydon exit.
Andrew C. Bernard, 23, of Grand Prairie, was driving east on I-64 early Friday morning when he struck a 1,000-pound Ayrshire cow that had fallen from a westbound truck and crossed the interstate just after 2 a.m., according to Indiana State Police Trooper William J. Wibbels Jr.
Bernard was pronounced dead at University of Louisville Hospital, Wibbels said.
Two passengers in Bernard’s Honda Civic, his wife, 22-year-old Jennelyn Cillian, and Angela Bernard, 22, were transported to University.
Wibbels said Angela Bernard had severe injuries, while Cillian had non-life-threatening injuries.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept., Harrison County EMS and Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Dept. assisted ISP in the crash, which is still under investigation.
