South Central gears up by downing NH

South Central continued its winning ways in baseball last week by tripping North Harrison, 8-3.
After fighting to a 2-2 tie through three innings, the clubs stayed knotted until the top of the sixth, when the visiting Rebels posted a five-spot on the host club.
Deavon Wiseman reached on an error and Justin Lillpop and Paul Brown both singled to load the bases. Joey Babcock walked for an RBI.
Brent Wilkerson grounded into a fielder’s choice for a RBI and Jared Wilkerson was hit by a pitch to load the bases again.
Brad Mercer and Deavon Wiseman both walked for two more runs.
South put up another run in the top of the seventh as Brown and Babcock both singled and Gehlbach grounded into a fielder’s choice that allowed Brown to come across.
North Harrison scraped together one run in its half of the inning.
Doug Martin tripled and scored on a passed ball to set the final score.
The Cougars’ first run came in much the same fashion as Martin walked and stole second, moved to third on a ground out and came in on a passed ball.
In the third, North’s sole run came when Ty Rothrock was plunked by Wiseman and Anthony Milburn singled. Scott Burdin hit a sacrifice to drive in the run.
The Rebels banged out seven hits with no errors while North had six hits and four miscues.
