Raymond C. Metzger

Raymond Carroll Metzger, 70, Milltown, died Thursday, May 29, at his home.
A native of Shively, Ky., born Nov. 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Louise Roggenkamp Metzger.
In 1968, he was the youngest supervisor to serve on the Crawford County Soil and Water Conservation Board, and served as chairman of the board from 1978 to 1991. He was a past president of Lincoln Hills RC&D, having served two terms. He was an advisory member of the Milltown Vocational Agricultural Dept. and served two terms as chairman on the ASCS Board. He was also a past president of Crawford County Development Corp.
He was a member of the 4-H Club Council Extension Board, Crawford County Cattleman Association, and Milltown United Methodist Church. He became a Kentucky Colonel as a junior at Valley High School in Jefferson County, Ky., and was a school bus driver in Milltown.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward F. and Richard I. Metzger, both of Milltown, and a sister, Elizabeth F. Metzger of Milltown.
Funeral: Sunday, June 1, at Brown-Newkirk Funeral Home in Milltown with burial in Milltown Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Russell Irwin.
Organist: Cathy Wiedmar.
Soloist: Matthew Wiedmar.
Pallbearers: Greg Bernardi, Steven Cornwell, James Ray Bentley, Dr. Daymon Evans, Kevin Patterson, William Booth, Ramsey Vance, Ruskie Roggenkamp, Harold Lemberger and Herman Wiedmar.
Honorary pallbearers: State Sen. Richard Young, Dr. Milton Roggenkamp, Elmer (Andy) Laswell, Kenneth Speedy, Ralph Hanger and John Waggoner.
