County softball, tennis Saturday

The annual four-way county events in girls tennis and softball will take place this weekend at North Harrison and Corydon.
Ramsey will host the softball tournament, which begins at 10 a.m. while tennis will be held at the tennis complex at Corydon Central beginning at 8:45 a.m.
North Harrison’s tennis team has run a monopoly on the outcome of the county tourney with six straight perfect scores of 25 points.
This year there might be a bit more parity, however as defending champs, the Lady Cats are still the team to beat.
In softball, it’s been a tad bit more balanced.
Last year’s tournament was not held because of rain, with Corydon Central winning three of the previous four outings before that.
All four teams in the county sport solid pitching staffs and sticks ‘o’ plenty this season, so many experts think the trophy is up for grabs. A blind draw for the pairings will be held at 9:30.
Here’s a list of past winners of the County Tourney as well as the scores in the final game:
1995 ‘ North Harrison 7, South Central 5; 1996 ‘ Rained out twice; not held; 1997 ‘ Corydon 16, North Harrison 3; 1998 ‘ Lanesville 13, North Harrison 10; 1999 ‘ Corydon 10, North Harrison 2; 2000 ‘ Corydon 8, North Harrison 7; 2001 ‘ Corydon 16, Lanesville 5; 2002 ‘ Rained out twice; not held.
