Police arrest another meth lab suspect

Harrison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Vanessa L. Timberlake yesterday morning at her home near Mauckport and charged her with crimes connected to allegedly operating a methamphetamine lab in a log cabin behind her home.
Her husband, Ellis C. Timberlake, 43, was arrested March 18 during an early morning raid on what police believe was a working meth lab at their isolated residence in the woods above Morvin’s Landing off S.R. 11.
Another man, Tony A. Knott, 43, Brandenburg, was arrested there that morning. A third man, Steven L. Springer III, 22, Corydon, fled in the dark and fell off a 70-foot cliff at a nearby abandoned stone quarry.
Springer was taken by STATCARE to University of Louisville Hospital with severe back injuries. Police said he has had surgery and is recovering at home. The investigation into his case is continuing, said Chief Gary Gilley.
Vanessa Timberlake, 32, was taken to the Harrison County Justice Center yesterday morning and booked on six charges: possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class A misdemeanor; possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony; possession of a firearm while in possession of methamphetamine, a Class C felony; possession of two or more chemical reagents or precurors, a Class D felony; and possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors while possessing a firearm, a Class C felony. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of 24 years in prison.
She was arrested without incident by officers Eric Fischer and Marty McClanahan and reserve officer Todd Melling.
She was held on $25,000 full cash bond. Her initial hearing was yesterday afternoon, and a not-guilty plea was entered on her behalf. Her pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 19.
Timberlake’s 12-year-old son was present at the home during the raid last month and also when his mother was arrested yesterday. He was allowed to continue on to school.
After the March 18 raid by the county police and Indiana State Police, Ellis Timberlake was arrested and eventually charged with basically the same counts as his wife.
He met bond the next day and was released. He is due back in court on June 2.
Knott faces the same kind of charges as the Timberlakes. He remains in jail at the justice center.
