George J. Batik
George J. Batik, 64, Lanesville, died Saturday morning, March 29, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
A native of Queens, N.Y., born Dec. 12, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Camille Kapek Batik.
He was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where he earned a master’s degree in medical illustration, and was a medical illustrator at the University of Louisville Medical Center, Cornell University in New York and Baylor in Texas. He was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in New Albany and Hobasco Masonic Lodge, where he was a past Grand Master. He was active in Scouting in New York and earned the level of Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margery New; two daughters, Teresa Hollowell of Washington, and Valerie Batik of Seattle, Wash.; and a granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 3, after 8 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Thursday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.
