A pep session tonight for everyone

In an unprecedented sign of solidarity in high school sports, there will be a combined pep session tonight (Wednesday) at North Harrison at 6:30 for the Final Four girls basketball teams from North Harrison and South Central. (See their regional championship stories in Sports.)
Mickie Vallandingham and Tami Geltmaker, proud parents of North’s Kim McMillin and Liz Geltmaker, came up with the idea.
There is no cost for admission, and semi-state tickets for Class 1A and 3A will be on sale at the event.
“I think it’s a great idea. I’m glad they put that together,” South Central coach Randall Schoen said. “I really think the support is growing more and more every day. I don’t think it’s really set in what has been accomplished. Hopefully, we can get everyone from all over the county to come to this thing.”
North Harrison coach Missy Voyles agreed with Schoen.
“I think it’s an awesome idea. It should be fun,” she said. “It’s nice to give the community the opportunity to support both schools. How often does something like that happen?”
Alan Stewart, sports editor of The Corydon Democrat, and Chris Stoner, the sports voice of AM-1550 WOCC in Corydon, will emcee the event.
