Panther grapplers second at MSC; next up is Jeffersonville Sectional

After finishing third in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference two weeks ago, Corydon Central’s wrestling team wound up second in Saturday’s Mid-Southern Conference meet at Charlestown High School.
The host Pirates won by 27 points over Corydon.
Four grapplers earned All-conference honors by virtue of their victories in the final round.
Bryan Eads, who competes in the 112-lb. weight class, scored a win, as did Tyler Williams at 152, David Terhune at 171 and Jimmy Ward at 215.
Runner-up finishers were named honorable mention for the M.S.C.
Those athletes were: Chris Gill (119), David Bradstock (125), Chris Paulley (130), David Camp (140), Jason Ward (145) and Eric Hoehn (189).
Third-place finishers for the Panthers were Brad McGrath (160) and Scott Craig (289).
This Saturday is the Jeffersonville Wrestling Sectional.
A new format has been put in place for this year’s tournament, which culminates at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the Jeffersonville Regional on Feb. 8. There will be wrestlebacks at the quarterfinal level.
The rest of the tournament is a single-elimination format.
At the regional level, the top three individuals from each weight class move on to the Evansville Reitz Semistate on Feb. 15 and from there, the top four individuals from each weight class move on to the state finals.
The state final will have 16 individuals from each weight class competing.
Weigh-in for sectional is between 7 and 8 a.m., with action set to get underway at 9.
Tickets are $4 each.
