Gertrude Barrett

Gertrude A. Barrett, 67, Salem, formerly of Washington County, died Monday, Jan. 20, at 12:15 a.m. at Heritage House of Salem.
A native of Salem, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Flinn Persinger.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and Highland Homemakers Club, and a former member of Business and Professional Women. She was a former employee of Cauble Florists and the old Fashion Shop in Salem.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur (Bill) Barrett, a daughter, Nancy Hurst, and five sisters.
Survivors include a son, Billy L. Barrett of Salem; two daughters, Carolyn J. Miller of Corydon and Barbara J. Payne of Salem; a brother, Robert L. Persinger of Salem; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Dawalt Funeral Home in Salem and after noon at New Hope United Methodist Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem.
Officiant: The Rev. John Windell.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Southern Indiana.
