Melvin R. Miller
Melvin R. (Shorty) Miller, 90, Jeffersonville, died Friday, Jan. 3, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
A native of Mauckport, born Dec. 12, 1912, he was the son of the late Ethal and Pearl Richards Miller.
He was a retired production worker at Colgate Palmolive Co., a graduate of Mauckport High School, and a member and elder at First Christian Church in Jeffersonville. He was a longtime district chairman for the Clark County Democratic Party.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Zella Mae Mindel, a daughter, Jo Ann Jones, six brothers, Floyd, Marshall, Riley (Mac), James, Wilbur and Sonnie Miller, and two daughters, Violet Fern Miller and Lenora Faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Marlene M. Yeager Oller of Louisville; a sister, Charlotte Hoback of Corydon; two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Funeral: Sunday, Jan. 5, at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with burial in Kraft-Graceland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the First Christian Church Maintenance Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
