Katherine Heeke
Katherine R. Heeke, 77, Jasper, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 10:50 p.m. at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
A native of Cannelton, born Jan. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rosina Ballow Horsley.
She was a homemaker, a caregiver and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Society, Bainbridge Home Economics Club, VFW Auxiliary Post 673, American Legion Auxiliary Post 147 and the Grandmothers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund (Jack) Heeke, a son, William J. (Bill) Heeke; a sister, Marcella Chadwell, two brothers, Charles and Maurice Horsley, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol Zehr of Otwell, Linda Trill of Brunswick, Ga., Betty Robbins of Shoals, Rosie Leisman of St. Anthony and Mary Buffington of Dale; a brother, Anthony Horsley of Tell City; three sisters, Ann Healy of Washington, Dora Huff of Catalina, Ariz., and Mary Parker of Jasper; a half brother, James Horsley of Fort Wayne; a half sister, Theresa Morris of Hardinsburg, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was prayed by the Daughters of Isabella and St. Ann’s Society on Friday, Dec. 13, at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper. A combined memorial service was also held Friday, Dec. 13, by the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
