Vivian L. Hughes

Vivian L. Hughes, 81, Newkirk, Okla., formerly of Corydon, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center in Ponca City, Okla.
A native of DeWitt, Ark., born Sept. 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Etta Danner Kiger.
She was a 1940 graduate of Corydon High School, served on the home mission field for the Nazarene Church, and worked with several Indian tribes in several states, where she developed programs for the children.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Hughes, a brother, Bob Kiger, and a sister, Helen Wallet.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Lloyd Hughes; two sons, Lloyd W. Hughes Jr. of Indianapolis and Jerry L. Hughes of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Sharon R. Harris of Hayeville, Kan.; a brother, Ted Kiger of Washington; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, Sept. 28, at Miller-Stahl Funeral Service in Newkirk with burial in Newkirk Cemetery.
Officiants: The Revs. Roy Edwards and Ed Hinman.
