Eugene A. Barkemeyer

Eugene A. Barkemeyer, 79, Elizabeth, died at 1:12 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
A native of Black Oak, Ark., born Dec. 3, 1922, he was the son of the late George and Dora Meyers Barkemeyer.
He retired from Sugar Creek Creameries of Louisville after 40 years of service in the maintenance department, and was a member of Old Union Community Church at Elizabeth and Teamsters Local 89 of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Barkemeyer, a son, Morris Barkemeyer, and a brother, Doyle Barkemeyer.
Survivors include his wife of three years, the former Margaret Pumphrey; three sons, Ralph Barkemeyer of San Antonio, William Barkemeyer of Topeka, Kan., and Donald Barkemeyer of Elizabeth; two stepsons, Doyle Barkemeyer of Shepardsville, Ky., and George Barkemeyer of Louisville; a daughter, Deborah Payne of Winchester, Va.; five stepdaughters, Evelyn Wesner of Elizabeth, Anita Sarles of New Albany, Barbara Crisp of Flowood, Miss., Connie Gossett of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Catherine Raley of Hot Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Almarita Duke of West Point, Miss., and Janice Barkemeyer of Mississippi; 37 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Oct. 14, at Old Union Community Church with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery in Milltown.
Officiant: The Rev. Paul Garriott.
