O’Charley’s opens Tuesday
The long-awaited opening of O’Charley’s restaurant in north Corydon, near the Wal-Mart Supercenter and Cracker Barrel restaurant, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday following a “Friends and Family Day” Sunday and a cocktail reception Monday for invited guests, to benefit Kosair Charities.
Restaurant general manager Susan Seay said, “This week is being devoted to training our 126 newly hired staff members, so we will be ready for Tuesday’s opening. We expect opening day to be busy, but we’ll be able to handle it.” Seay said she had no problem finding enough workers in the Corydon area to staff the restaurant.
“This restaurant was originally scheduled to open in February, but the events of 9/11 caused the company to delay the opening,” Seay said. “I joined the Chamber of Commerce here and have actually been quite involved in the community for more than a year.
“O’Charley’s is a family-oriented restaurant which features a casual, contemporary atmosphere,” Seay said. “The restaurant’s open floor plan has seating for 276 guests, and we have an area where larger parties can be accommodated.
“One of the unique features of this restaurant is the painted mural, which depicts scenes from Corydon and Harrison County, including the first capitol building,” Seay said. “This is something O’Charley’s does to integrate the flavor of the community into our stores.” The mural tops a glass wall separating the dining room and kitchen.
O’Charley’s menu is extensive and includes appetizers, soups, salads, steaks, sandwiches, burgers and desserts. They have a special Sunday brunch menu and a children’s menu which includes several choices for $3.99. The bar serves a variety of beers, wines and frozen drinks.
Monday through Friday, O’Charley’s guarantees that customers will get their lunch within 15 minutes when they order from the “Express Lunch” menu, served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
O’Charley’s has restaurants in 14 states throughout the South and Midwest.
