Robert D. Stuart Sr.
Robert Dale Stuart Sr., 72, Greensburg, died Monday, June 24, in Indianapolis at 10:07 p.m. at the home of his son, Timothy Wayne Stuart.
A native of Rodney, born May 6, 1930, he was the son of Marie Elizabeth Mires Stuart of Wesport and the late John E. Stuart.
He was an employee of Bohn Aluminum in Greensburg for 17 years, a carpenter for 12 years, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a 1948 graduate of Sand Creek High School.
He was a member of Wesleyan Holiness Church and pastored churches in Corydon, Concord, Zionsville, College Corner, Ohio, Everett and Ohioville, Pa., and Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Patty Lou Stevens, a daughter, Donna Marie Stuart, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors besides his mother and son include four other sons, Robert Dale Stuart Jr. of Seymour, John Aaron Stuart of Adams, Paul Edward Stuart of Fredericksburg and Donald Eugene Stuart of Gettysburg, Ohio; three daughters, Nina Ruth Sawyer of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Juanita Louise Frank of Roy, Ohio, and Rebecca Lynn Clark of Alum Bank, Pa.; a brother, Paul Richard Stuart of Westport; a sister, Doris Taylor of Westport; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.
Funeral: Thursday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rodney Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the gravesite.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Odyssey Health Care Hospice or to the Gideon Memorial Bible program in care of Bass and Gasper Funeral Home.
