Sylvester Nicholas DuBois, 81, New Albany, died Tuesday, June 11, at his home.
A native of Milltown, born Oct. 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Lizzie M. Bell DuBois.
He served in the armed forces in World War II, was a self-employed carpenter, a member and commander of VFW Post 1693 and an elected district commander of the 8th District Dept. of Indiana VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred DuBois, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his brother, Charles I. DuBois of Indianapolis; stepsons; and two stepgrandchildren.
Memorial service: Monday, June 17, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Milltown Cemetery. The body was cremated.
Officiant: Father Fred Denison.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association.
