William Barnes

William Upton Barnes, 83, Jeffersonville, died Saturday, June 1, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
A native of Elizabeth, he was a retired chemist lab technician for American Synthetic Rubber and a former Census Bureau clerk. He was a charter and 50-year member of Falls Masonic Lodge 749 in Clarksville, a 50-year member of Scottish Rite Valley of Louisville, a charter member and past patron of Eastern Star Chapter 603 in Clarksville, and was affiliated with Bright Star 532. He was a former board member of Jeffersonville Assembly 137 Order of Rainbow for Girls in Indiana, Kosair Shrine, and First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Barnes.
Survivors include his wife, the former Pat Bolly of Clarksville; two sons, William D. Barnes of Louisville and Jeffry Barnes of Georgetown; two daughters, Pamela Barnes and Leslie Sandbach, both of Clarksville; a brother, James F. Barnes of Clarksville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Masonic service and an Eastern Star service were held Monday, June 3, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville.
The funeral was Tuesday, June 4, at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
