Margaret Stump

Margaret Cecilia Smith Stump, 81, a resident at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, formerly of Depauw, died Sunday, April 28, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Depauw, born Dec. 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Perry D. and Florence Gurtz Smith.
She was a homemaker, a past president of the resident council at Providence Retirement Home and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Frenchtown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin F. (Jerry) Stump Sr., and a son, William Allen Stump.
Survivors include a son, Alvin F. (Buddy) Stump Jr. of Depauw; two daughters, Joyce A. Newton of New Albany and Marie Adkins of Depauw; three brothers, D. Wayne Smith of Depauw, Lawrence W. Smith of Milltown and Charles D. Smith of Ramsey; two sisters, M. Yvonne Pearson of Corydon and A. Elnora Maymon of New Albany; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Wednesday, May 1, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey handled the arrangements.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Providence Retirement Home.
