Alice Mitchell

Alice M. Gambrel Hawkins Mitchell, 74, New Albany, formerly of Corydon, died Thursday, April 25, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Jackson County, Ky., born July 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Lucy Martin Gambrel.
She was a retired waitress and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Corydon.
Survivors include her husband, James F. Mitchell of New Albany; a son, Thomas Watson of Henryville; two daughters, Vivian Arbuckle of Depauw and Mary Oney of New Haven, Ky.; three brothers, three sisters; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday, April 27, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Palmyra Cemetery. Chester McKim officiated.
Pallbearers were Joe, Brian, Mike, Greg, Ivan and Orval Arbuckle.
