Susannah Markel

Susannah Keller Markel, 81, Brownstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 1:45 p.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis during open heart surgery.
A native of Corydon, born July 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Aileen Keller.
She was a homemaker and a member of American Legion Auxiliary and Brownstown United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She attended Corydon High School and graduated from a high school in Virginia. She also attended DePauw University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Markel Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph K. and Bruce III Markel, both of Brownstown; a sister, JoAnn Koegel of Valley Lee, Md.; and six grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday, Feb. 9, at Brownstown United Methodist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Jack D. Shake officiated. Molly Persinger was organist.
