Arthur C. Smith

Arthur C. Smith, 85, Birdseye, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at his home from heart failure.
A native of Birdseye, born Nov. 20, 1916, he was the son of the late Al and Eva Belcher Smith.
He retired from the Dubois County Highway Dept. and was a member of American Legion. He attended Birdseye Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Smith, and a sister, Ethel Fries.
Survivors include his wife, the former Genevieve Jackson; a son, David Smith of Birdseye; two daughters, Linda Cook of Corydon and Cathy Newton of Birdseye; a brother, LaVern Smith of Indianapolis; two sisters, Nora Partenheimer and Betty Smith, both of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Sunday, Feb. 24, at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial in Birdseye Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Hickman officiated. Military rites were performed at the gravesite by the St. Anthony American Legion Honor Guard.
