SC clipped in overtime

South Central was upended by Springs Valley in overtime of the semifinal round of the Class 1A Orleans Sectional on Friday night, 60-53.
The Lady Rebels (17-8) actually owned an eight-point lead in the third quarter, but Valley (12-11) rallied to go up by five late in the fourth period.
Lady Blackhawk coach Jason Russell was hit with a technical foul with 1:17 left in the contest and South Central leading scorer Rachel Dixon hit four free throws to tie it at 48-all.
After a Springs Valley turnover with :56 showing, Rachel Brown buried a bank shot at the :21 mark to give South the lead. Both teams swapped possessions twice and after a wild scramble, Wilson made up for an earlier traveling call by knocking down a short jumper with 2.9 seconds left to send it into overtime.
Valley went up two points to start the overtime after hitting a pair of technical free throws and Janelle Ragains hit a deuce to push the lead to four. South’s Allison Hubert, who had 10 points on the night, hit two frees to make it 56-53 but Wilson caught a long pass and streaked in for a lay-up with :20 left in the extra set.
Dixon finished with 23 points in the loss to pace the Lady Rebels.
Springs Valley went on to capture their first sectional title on Saturday night, 39-33, over West Washington and will take on No. 2-ranked New Harmony (22-1) in the Loogootee Regional.
n In last week’s story about the South Central and Lanesville contest, it should have been reported that the Lady Rebels’ Allison Hubert scored five points.
