Robert Fischer

Robert W. Fischer, 77, Corydon, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
A native of Tell City, born May 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Luke and Ella Freeman Fischer.
He was a retired senior vice president of Louisville Federal Intermediate Credit Bank, and a former employee of ACDI in Cairo, Egypt. He was a member of Corydon VFW 2950, Tell City American Legion Post 213 and Corydon Moose Lodge 2493.
He was a former Democratic Precinct Committee chairperson in Dubois and Marion counties, a former president of the Huntingburg Jaycees, a Marine veteran of World War II and a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Luke and Charles Fischer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Gloria A. Kramer; two sons, Mark A. Fischer of English and James A. Fischer of Georgetown; two daughters, Cathy L. Breidenbaugh of Tampa, Fla., and Rebecca L. Shewmaker of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three brothers, Tony, Jim and Dave Fischer, all of Tell City; three sisters, Martha Hoover of Memphis, Tenn., Eloise Paulin of Tell City and Rose Johnson of Fort Wayne; and five grandchildren.
A rosary was prayed Sunday, Feb. 3, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City.
The funeral was Monday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Military rites were performed by American Legion Post 213.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Corydon VFW Post 2950.
