Herbert F. Summers Sr.

Herbert F. Summers Sr., 83, Corydon, died Thursday, Jan. 24, at his home.
A native of Louisville, born Sept. 12, 1918, he was the son of the late Phillip and Julia Mae McAtee Summers.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired carpenter with the Kentucky State District Council of Carpenters Union Local 64 in Louisville, and a member of American Legion Post 28 in New Albany and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Todd Summers.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Catherine Spath; fours sons, Clement Summers of Newark, Del., Herbert (Lucky) Jr. and Roy Summers, both of Corydon, and Jerry Summers of English; a daughter, Patricia Knight of New Albany; three brothers, Mack Summers of Georgetown, Robert Summers (his twin) of New Albany and Joe Summers of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was prayed Monday, Jan. 28, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The funeral was Monday at the funeral home with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery in New Albany. Military rites were performed at the gravesite by American Legion Post 204.
Pallbearers besides his sons were his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Larry Knight. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.
