Opal Torromeo, 80, Lakewood, Calif., died Monday, Dec. 3, at a hospital in California.
A native of Crawford County, born Jan. 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ott and Lola Crecelius Jones.
She graduated in 1939 from Marengo High School and served in the Army (WAC) from 1944 to 1945. She retired from the Dept. of Water and Power in 1970 and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Long Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky Torromeo, and a brother, H.O. (Whitey) Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Torromeo of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mark Torromeo of Long Beach; a sister, Jackie Bullington of Marengo; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral was Friday, Dec. 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kenyon officiated. The body was cremated. The cremains will be interned at a later date in Marengo Cemetery. Dilday-Mottell-Spongberg Mortuary in Long Beach handled the arrangements.
