Helen A. Aemmer

Helen A. Aemmer, 87, New Albany, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at her home.
A native of New Albany, she was employed at the old Fair Store for more than 50 years and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Pocohontas Auxiliary of the Independent Order of Redmen, both in New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Aemmer, and a daughter, Barbara J. Black.
Survivors include four sons, William P. and Richard A. Aemmer, both of Floyds Knobs, and Robert E. and Anthony W. Aemmer, both of New Albany; four daughters, Patricia A. Stone of New Albany, Donna M. Condra of Borden, Mary M. Kannapel of Georgetown and Catherine L. Sowders of Corydon; a brother, John E. DeVore of New Albany; a sister, Margaret D. Craft of Fairfield, Ohio; 35 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 13, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Vista Care Hospice or to her church.
