Burnis R. Arnold

Burnis R. (Barney) Arnold, 85, Henryville, died Sunday, Sept. 23, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville after a short illness.
A native of Putnam County, Okla., he retired from 84 WHAS as a farm director.
His memberships included Henryville First Baptist Church, Farm Bureau, the Grange, Louisville Agriculture Club, Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame (1981), Dairymen Inc., FFA and National Association of Farm Broadcasting. He served on the North Clark Hospital Board (now the Medical Center of Southern Indiana) and Prosser Education Board.
He received the Kentucky Farm Bureau Communications Award in 1976 and the Distinguished Rural Kentuckian, which was presented to him by the Kentucky Rural Electric Co-ops in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Frances Kelley, and a daughter, Susan Bruner.
Survivors include a son, Patrick Bruner of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mary Douglas of Henryville and Barbara Bruner of Corydon; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was Thursday, Sept. 27, at Henryville First Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Bonts officiated. R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville handled the arrangements.
