Dr. Wilfrid C. Gettelfinger

Dr. Wilfrid C. Gettelfinger, 95, Louisville, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at his home.
A native of Ramsey, he retired from private practice in internal medicine, and was a lifetime member of Jefferson County Medical Society and CATO Society. He served as president of the medical staff at the old St. Joseph Infirmary, Louisville Society of Internists and Kentucky Society of Internal Medicine.
He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1928 at Indiana University and was a 1934 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he later served as an associate clinical professor. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary and served on the board of directors of Senior House.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alice Gettelfinger; a son, Dr. Tom Gettelfinger of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Sarah Braden, Judy Hoskins and Alice Hillis, all of Carmel; two brothers; a sister; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Church of the Epiphany with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Pearson-Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home in Louisville handled the arrangements.
The family suggests memorial gifts to his church, Mass of the Air or Hospice.
