Helen Broome

Helen Widener Broome, 65, Leesville, S.C., formerly of Greenville, died Sunday, July 29, in Augusta, Ga.
A native of Aiken, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Fannie Key Widener.
She retired from the United States Dept. of Agriculture after 27 years, and was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Beech Island, S.C.
Survivors include a son, Gary K. Broome of Warrenville, S.C.; three daughters, Cindy Sparling of Graniteville, S.C., Karen B. Zorn of Warrenville, S.C., and Angela B. Gunter of Beech Island, S.C.; a brother, Robert Widener Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; four sisters, Hazel Renfrow of Leesville, Evelyn Carter of Beech Island, Louise Hutto of Aiken and Delorise Snipes of Trenton, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Amazing Grace Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Memory Gardens. The Rev. David Hixon officiated.
Pallbearers will be Michael Broome, Chad Broome, Kip Gunter, Frank Stuart, Thomas Gunter and Wayne Gunter.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Amazing Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 363 Pine Log Road, Beech Island, SC 29842.
