Joseph R. Martin

Joseph R. Martin, 77, New Albany, died Sunday morning, July 8, at Green Valley Health Care Center in New Albany, where he was a resident.
A native of Elizabeth, born Aug. 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph R. Sr. and Addie Hill Martin.
He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, after 25 years as a heating engineer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1693 in New Albany.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Martin of Virginia; three stepsons, William Devine of New Albany, Carl E. Divine of New Salisbury and Robert Devine of Georgetown; three stepdaughters, Deloris Harvey of Edmunton, Ky., Lillian Conlee of Elizabeth and Roberta Kruer of Floyds Knobs; and 16 grandchildren.
The funeral was Thursday, July 12, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth. The Rev. Larry Joyce officiated.
Military rites were performed at the grave site by VFW Post 1693.
