James W. Milligan

James W. Milligan 73, Palmyra, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

Born Oct. 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Herzhal and Dorothy Wheat Milligan.

He was an Army veteran, a previous owner of Erber and Milligan Construction Co. and a member of Bonnie Sloan American Legion Post No. 28.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Susie Batman; a grandson, John Joseph Milligan; and three brothers, Richard and Mike Milligan and Mike Norman.

Survivors include seven children, Julie Mefford, Cheryl Murphy, Rick, Chris and Casandra Milligan, Darren Batman and Jaime Knight; two brothers, Bob Norman and Herzhal Milligan Jr.; six sisters, Patty Pierce, Shirley Rothwell, Rose Broome, Gladys Spevak, Kay Hunt and Gwen Cole; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, April 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, April 18, after 10 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.

Funeral: Friday, April 18, at noon at the funeral home with burial in Hardinsburg Cemetery.
