Blue River sounds call for artists

May 07, 2009 | 11:29 AM

The Blue River Association for the Arts invites all artists from Crawford, Harrison and surrounding counties to its next meeting, Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at the Blue River Café in Milltown.

The group has begun the process of filing for nonprofit status with the help of the Community Foundation of Crawford County so it can solicit grants for a major art exhibition coming to Milltown in the fall of 2010. A benefit dinner is scheduled to help the organization raise funds.

The association also is in the process of opening a large cooperatively-run art gallery in Milltown and finalizing the details for its upcoming art exhibition, the Blue River Art Walk.

Artists are invited to get into the organization free of dues right now and to decide whether the gallery guidelines meet their needs, become an operating or display-only gallery co-op member, hammer out the details for the Art Walk, and help elect a facilitator and advisory council.
