The Crawford County Community School Corp. will honor former teacher and longtime baseball coach John Hammond at the high school boys' basketball game with Perry Central on Friday.
The school corporation's board of trustees voted to name the present baseball field after Hammond following a recommendation from athletic director Jerry Hanger. Hammond coached the Wolfpack for 18 seasons, producing their only sectional championship in 1977 and winning six conference titles.
The school will present Hammond with a plaque between the junior varsity and varsity games and will follow the varsity game with a short reception in the cafeteria.
All former players, assistant coaches, students and friends are invited to attend.
