The North Harrison volleyball team faced a tall order Thursday when it hosted defending Class 2A runner-up Providence.
Despite a game effort, the Lady Pioneers pulled out a three-game victory 25-18, 25-11, 25-15.
"Providence is a very good team," North Harrison coach Alexis Speer said. "We were right with them until we started making some unforced errors. Once we clean up our game a little, we will be just as tough as some of these other schools we are playing."
Leading the North Harrison offense was Maddie Janes with 10 kills. She was followed by Carlie Burson with five.
From the setter position, Jill Book had 10 assists and 13 digs.
"We have to learn to play our game and not let anybody else in the gym or on the other side of the court affect how we are playing," Speer added. "I have a great group of girls who work extremely hard."
North Harrison will return to action tomorrow (Thursday) when the Cougars host Perry Central at 6:30 p.m. They will also participate in the Southern Indiana Invitational on Saturday. Bedford North Lawrence is hosting the event, which also will feature South Central.
