For the second consecutive year, the Old Capital Club Championship was won by a Corydon Central High School student.
During the weekend, Ryan Crawford, a junior at Corydon Central, won the club championship with a two-day score of seven-over par 151.
After 36 holes, Crawford was tied with two others, Dustin Thomas and James Yeager, for the top spot. Forced into a playoff, the trio trekked to No. 18.
On 18, Crawford and Thomas eliminated Yeager from the playoff. Identical scores on the next playoff hole, No. 1, forced Crawford and Thomas to move on to No. 9. There, Crawford sealed his first club championship.
Crawford shot a 77 on Saturday then followed with his best round, a 74, the next day.
Fellow Corydon Central student Tommy Wiseman had the Championship Flight's best 18-hole round, carding an even par 72 on Saturday. He followed with an 80, settling for fourth place.
Defending champion Timothy Wiseman, Tommy's brother, rounded out the top five with a 155 (81-74). The Wiseman brothers, along with Crawford, are members of Corydon Central's golf team that competes in the spring.
The winner of the first flight was Michael Wiseman, the father of the Wiseman brothers. He went 84-80, while Richard Timberlake went 83-81, also for 164. Michael Wiseman won a scorecard playoff between the two. Rounding out the top five were Brian Lower (169), Calvin Saulman (171) and David Dukes (171).
In the senior flight, Alan Hess carded the lowest two-day score of any competitor, shooting a 75 on Saturday followed by a 74 for a 149. Placing second was Dwight Seals (152) followed by Bob Glordan (157), Rick Pflanz (158) and Steve Shircliff (161).
Outlasting the field of three women in the ladies flight, Rita Stocksdale took top honors with a 166 (85-81), ahead of Linda Davis (186) and Jeannie Pflanz (198).
