Potential school board candidates at any of the three Harrison County school corporations have a couple more days to sign up to run. The deadline to file is Friday at noon.
As of yesterday (Tuesday), three incumbents for North Harrison have signed up to run: Marla Adams, the Jackson Township seat, and Steve Hanger, the Spencer Township seat; and at large, Veronica J. Sieg Battista.
The Lanesville Community School Corp. has two seats on the ballot, currently held by Donnie Hussung and Ronald Wolfe. Hussung cannot be on the ballot because he's running for the District 2 County Council seat. Two candidates have signed up so far: Margaret E. Meyer and Jaycen Abell.
The South Harrison school board seats up for grabs are District 1, held by Joyce E. Bliss; two seats for District 2, held by Mary Jean Mathes and Karen Sue Lopp; and District 5, held by Vickie Engleman.
Mathes and Lopp have signed up to run for re-election, joined by challenger Steven C. Duley. Diana Sailor signed up to run for District 1.
In other election news, Susie Flock Weigle was added by the Harrison County Democrats to the Spencer Township Advisory Board ballot, joining Democrats Kathy Goldman and Phyllis Patterson. The three Republicans on the ballot are Annissa Kellum-Reas, Ray Saylor and Belinda K. Smith. Spencer Township voters will vote for three of the candidates.
