Medical condition claims Ramsey man

December 31, 2013 | 08:38 AM

An autopsy Sunday afternoon indicated that a Ramsey man died as a result of cardiac arrest before his vehicle ran off the road and submerged in a pond, according to Harrison County Coroner Rusty Sizemore.

John Vausha, 62, was driving Saturday night on S.R. 64 near Taswell when his vehicle ran off the road and into a nearby pond shortly before 7.

Crawford County Dispatch received a phone call from a witness who had observed Vausha's vehicle leave the roadway and enter the pond. Members of the English Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and were able to extricate Vausha, who was unresponsive.

Vausha was airlifted to Harrison County Hospital in Corydon where he was pronounced dead.

Also responding to the scene were Indiana Conservation Officers divers, the Crawford County Sheriff's Dept., Indiana State Police and Crawford County EMS.
