Winning Lotto ticket sold in HC

October 09, 2013 | 09:07 AM

An as-of-yet anonymous person is now likely a millionaire after hitting the $3.5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot Saturday night.

According to the Hoosier Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at Highway 135 BP (formerly Coffman's) along S.R. 135 south of Corydon.

The ticket matched all six numbers (2-9-11-15-22-40).

In an added perk, the retailer will receive a 1-percent bonus, up to a $20,000 cap (whichever is less), meaning 135 BP will receive a check for $20,000.

As of press time yesterday (Tuesday), no winner had stepped forward.

If it ultimately goes unclaimed, the $3.5 million prize will not be the largest unclaimed Hoosier Lottery prize. A $5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot went unclaimed in March 2004. In September of 2002, some unlucky soul missed out on a $50 million Powerball jackpot won in the Hoosier state.

More recently, someone missed out on a $1 million prize Monday after a ticket purchased April 10 in Jeffersonville went unclaimed.

Money from unclaimed prizes remains in the lottery's prize payout fund, which increases the amount of lottery profits that go to the state.
